Sami was lying in the grass in her usual spot, near the outskirts of Konoha. She glanced at her watch. It was almost time for her to go Ninja school to find out about her new team. She, like everyone else in the school, had passed the initial test. But the next test lay ahead - would she really become a shinobi? She was thinking about this carefully.

'I can't afford to fail.' she thought sternly. She then sat up and stretched out her arms above her head. Her dark eyes scanned the field calmly, until she noticed a sparkle of light in the grass not far from where she sat.

"Huh?" she asked. "What..is that?" Sami slowly got up, and cautiously walked over to the spot where the sparkle was. Crouching down, she saw a small, beautiful blood-red orb that gleamed in the sunlight. As she reached to pick it up, she felt a sudden pulse of darkness. She quickly drew back her hand, her eyes fixed on the orb. It seemed have darkness swirling in it.

"That's........really.....strange........" she mumbled, fealing a bit confused. She went ahead and picked it up, holding it to the sunlight. Just then, red light shone from the orb, and the darkness within it seemed to swirl faster, almost angrily. Sami dropped the orb and quickly jumped backwards. Her eyes remained fixed on it, as the red light grew brighter. There was a sudden blinding flash, causing Sami to sheild her eyes. When she removed her hands from them, she gazed in shock at what she saw infront of her. In place of the orb, there was a demon-spirit standing there. He was tall and slim, he had spikey-ish silver hair that was a bit past his shoulders, pale skin, and blood-red eyes that shone with a sense of cruelty. He wore a black sleeveless shirt and black pants. He had two piercings in his left ear, along with a red spiked armband on his right arm, and a black spiked belt with silver chains.

"Hello, human..." he purred, giving a slight grin which showed his white teeth..and fangs.
"Who are you?" Sami asked quickly as she took a step back, going into her defensive stance. 'He's...suspiscious..'
"Does it matter?" he asked with a playful sigh. He seemed so nonchalant..
"As matter of fact, YES." Sami snapped, taking another step back. The demon laughed at her caution.
"Is that so..? What a burden......" He purred, still smirking. "...The name's Kurodai."
He took a few slow steps towards Sami, who was still in her defensive stance. "And about you..?" Oh, how Sami just HATED the purring tone in his voice!
"It's Sami. What are you?" Sami hissed. 'Who is this guy?! And where's he from...What does he WANT?!'
Kurodai gave another laugh. "Can't you tell? I'm quite sure that you can.."
'Okay, he is really annoying now...' Sami thought as she said, folding her arms, "I asked a question, and I want an answer."
Kurodai's nonchalant appearance disappeared as his expression grew to be a bit more on the serious side. He took anbother step towards Sami, as he lowered his voice. "I'm a demon-spirit. And you know something? I need a new abode, since as my previous one died too easily."
"And you expect me to agree to that?" Sami asked. 'He's kinda scaring me now..'
Kurodai gave a malicious chuckle. He strolled around Sami in a circle, keeping his gaze upon her. "Quite defiant, aren't you? But, guess what?" His voice had tone of cruelty in it. He suddenly stopped walking, and turned around sharply to face Sami. "YOU DON'T HAVE A CHOICE!" He yelled, summoning a ring of darkness around Sami. "I've chosen you, and so you can't decline." A cruel smirk played on his lips as his eyes shone with malicious triumph.
Sami made an attempt to escape, but failed. There was a sudden surge of darkness, and the next thing Sami knew, she had blacked out for a short period of time.

Slowly, Sami regained her consciousness. She groaned as she forced herself to sit up. 'Ouch....What just--'  
'''About time you woke up,''' A voice in her head said. Sami's eyes grew wide in shock.
"What the...." Then her eyes narrowed with slight anger as she hissed, "Kurodai..."
'''Yup, and now I'm your spiritual guardian...Oh, isn't the orb so beautiful as a bracelet?''' His voice was back to its purring tone. As he mentioned the orb Sami glanced at her left wrist, just to find a most beautiful gold bracelet with mysterious symbols on it..And the orb in the middle of it. '''It's proof that I'm your guardian...'''
"And when did you become my 'guardian'?" Sami asked in annoyance as lowered her left hand and narrowed her eyes into a glare.
'''What does it matter? Anyway, don't you have something to do?'''
"..Huh?" Sami asked as she looked at her watch. Her eyes grew wide in realization. "OH MY GOD, I'M LATE!!!!" She yelled as she jumped to her feet and dashed off to the Ninja School.

Iruka was just about finished with assigning the members of all the teams when Sami rushed into the room. Very quickly, she made her way over to him.
"I-Iruka-sensei! I'm really sorry for being so late!" she stammered as she bowed slightly in apology.
Iruka smiled and said, "Well, at least you're just in time to find out your assigned team. You are in Team 7, with Uzumaki Naruto, Uchiha Sasuke, Haruna Sakura and Koi Yami. Go ahead and meet with your team members."
"Okay. Thank you, sensei." Sami said with a hint of gratitude as she made her over to where her new team members sat.
Naruto was glaring at Sasuke, Sakura was gazing at Sasuke all lovey-dovey-like, Sasuke was ignoring them, and Yami was just watching the others. Sami quietly stood at their table, wondering what to say.
"Hey, Sami." Yami said when noticed the tan-skinned girl standing nearby.
"Hi, Yami... What happened with those three?" Sami gestured over to the othe members of Team 7. Yami laughed.
"It was hilarious!" Then she proceeded to explain to Sami what had happened in her absence, causing her to laugh.
"Anyway, we're supposed to meet with our sensei this afternoon." Yami added when they were finished laughing.
'Wonder what he's like?' Sami asked in thought.

After lunch time, the members of all the Teams had gone off with their senseis, except for Team 7. The fivesome sat in a room, all bored with nothing to do. Not that lunch time wasn't fun. It was full of total mayhem.
Naruto had grown completely restless from waiting on their new sensei.
"Naruto, stay still!" Sakura yelled at him as he walked here and there.
"Why is the sensei of team # 7..so damn late?!!" he asked in a yell as he peered out the door.
Sami in meantime was sitting down in the corner of the room, silently watching the others.
'''Ah, so you're the loner type, huh?''' a familiar voice asked her.
'Shut up! Why do I have to be the one you chose?!' Sami thought in pure annoyance.
'''Hahaha! It's because you won't be going down too easily,''' Kurodai purred.
'..Leave me alone...' Sami narrowed her eyes, totally sick of this 'Spirit Guardian'.
Yami had managed to get Sasuke to talk with her, without any persistence. Sakura chimed in to the converstation soon after, and Naruto just kept waling around restlessly.

Just when did their sensei plan on arriving?!
